Taking my place in the media scrum within the elaborately decorated wedding room on the top floor of the famous store, I awaited the arrival of the Bride and Groom.
The Bride’s guests smiled across at the Groom’s side and eventually a hush descended as it became clear that the ceremony was about to begin. The music struck up and down the aisle pattered eight little paws,
Timmy, a Bichon-Frise and his bride Muffin, a Shih Tzu had arrived. Timmy, resplendent in his morning suit was suitably upbeat on his wedding day; the bride however looked as though she was sucking lemons! Owners fussed over their precious pooches at the altar. Timmy, intent on chewing the sleeves off his jacket, stayed put however the bride seemed intent on doing a runner!
Celebrant Graham Parker performed the vows, the happy couple exchanged collars and signed the register with inked paws. A champagne reception followed for the twenty guests after which the pair left in a horse drawn carriage.
The editing of the footage took me an age as I had to disguise the sound of my barely sustained giggles, throughout the entire film.
All very indulgent and amusing, however the two hour ‘wedding’ cost £3,500... Mmmmmmmm...
